The anti-racist fight in a slavery based country

In a country that has achieved the level of capitalist development through an accumulation process that has happen principally due to the exploitation of the black and indigenous people, a racial question get a class connotation of great relevance to our struggle. The slavery served as a lucrative element of pre-capitalist accumulation for the european countries. The black slave’s traffic brought to Brazil, from Africa, was another point of this infamous route of massacre of our people and of wealth concentration in the european countries. This form of wealth concentration and racial exploitation and oppression was what marked the structure of capitalist dependency that was developed in our country.

But the black people didn’t accepted peacefully this object condition of the slavery, resisted with escapes, rebellions in the “senzalas” where they were exploited, and the main form of organizing themselves to escape the slavery condition were the “Quilombos”. The “Quilombos” were military groups in África, that were formed by many others small groups called “Mocambos”. Through them the blacks resisted refusing the slavery and creating free territories in the brazilian woods and mountains, in which existed other life forms with a collective economy,[ popular guns], guns between the people and sexual freedom as the polyandry. The strongest of this “quilombos” was Palmares, that make us until today  recall of other experiences of control and self-government in the territories, as Canudos, the Pinheirinho occupy and many other squats that are scattered in our territory. A lot of theses “Quilombos” resist until theses days, as well as the indigenous people that has done many forms of retaking their territories.

When we see this scenario of struggles and of exploitation and oppression by the capital against us, we don’t see as something that stays in the past, cause this process still lives among us and still reflects the form by which the capital massacre is perpetrated against us daily, and how our people is resisting until now against the exploitation and oppression violence. When we refer ourselves to the oppression, she is directed the most exploited sectors and more oppressed among the oppressed, and we shouldn’t forget to see among these the black women and men, as well as the indigenous people that, together with the black people, compose the groups that suffer the highest level of violence by genocide and capitalism misery.

It’s in this “invisible ghetto” in which brazilian racism operates, turning the genocide by the police and unemployment common among the black population and, blaming the black himself for his lack of success in life and by violence that reach him daily. Been in the aim of the police bullets, in the full prisons, in the unemployment lines to be subject in the public spaces, in work and in the comerces has already been a daily scene in the life of black women and men. Racism is very clear among those who feel in their flesh, but this form that operates among us make it looks invisible to the society as a whole. This acting form within the racism has been historically known as the “Racial Democracy Myth”, that doesn’t exist as something modern, but since the first “alforrias” that were conquered by blacks in the slavery time.

This is how operates capitalism also in the division among working people, that’s because our class isn’t composed only by blacks, then the division among black, white, indigenous and immigrants and asians takes part in the control that capitalism lays down on us, keeping us separated and destroying the racial identification through racism. And that happens because this class identification by the means of the racial element is also dangerous to the capitalists because in fact, the bosses, the owners of the money, of the lands and enterprises, are, in fact, whites, and explosive potential of the anti-racist struggle destabilize the acting forms of theses bosses. The racial struggle can drive to tensions among these sectors of the most oppressed ones that can unify with our people, breaking the internal divisions between workers and unifying them against our main enemy, the bourgeoisie, the real owners of capitalism, that takes all benefits, leaving to us only inequality, hunger and violence.
